Must Read Books at West Salem High School

By: Emily Harris

Many people love to snuggle up and read a good book on a rainy day. With cold weather fast approaching, are you looking for a good book to read, but can never find one? Well, here are some ideas to get you started:

West Salem High School’s head librarian, Ms. Beazizo’s favorite books are: All My Rage by Sebaa Tahir and Fairy Tale by Stephen King.

The first book that Ms. Beazizo recommends is All My Rage by Sebaa Tahir. This book is a moving story of friendship and belonging. The story talks about a true dream of wanting home when you do not always fit in. A girl named Pakistan longs to know the history of her culture that she never discovered due to her family’s terrible accident.

Secondly, Ms. Beazizo recommends Fairy Tale by Stephen King. This book is significant because it’s a departure to fantasy from his normal genre of horror and suspense. This title is a mashup of fairy tales, pop culture and survival. This beautiful story takes you on a journey of a lifetime as a 17 year old boy longs for some magic in his life, but somehow realizes that he has the key to unlock a whole hidden world. From learning how to fight good and evil, to an unworthy land that needs saving.

In addition to Ms. Beazizo's favorites, we asked your fellow Titans what their favorite books are this season. Here’s what we found:

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is the first book that your peers recommend. This is the first title in the series that made its debut in 2009. The story covers many different themes from fantasy to science fiction. The story is magical and will transport you into another world, the distant future with teens getting teleported and have to find their way out of a giant stone maze.

Our last book recommendation is titled The Maze Cutter by James Dashner, which has also been adapted into a TV series. In this novel, Isaac and Sedina embark on an epic adventure and have to avoid the Flare Virus and Cranks. Join them as they journey on the amazing Maze Cutter ship. Will their quest change? Check it out for your holiday reading to find out.

Special thanks to Ms. Beazizo for helping find these great books.
